Toynol® Foamic-021 Molecular Defoamer
Toynol® Foamic 021 High-Efficiency Waterborne Molecular Defoamer
Abstract
Toynol® Foamic 021 is a nonionic defoamer developed to solve foam control challenges in waterborne industrial coatings, printing inks and adhesives. Its key functions are rapid foam knockdown, long-lasting foam suppression and effective micro-foam removal. Compared with conventional silicone-containing defoamers, it contains no silicone oil or mineral oil, does not cause cratering or pinholes, and is especially suitable for persistent foam caused by anionic surfactants. The product is environmentally compliant (APEO-free) and offers high cost-effectiveness, making it a suitable option for high-end applications such as waterborne industrial coating application, ink printing and adhesive coating.

Main Features and Advantages
- High efficiency: Adding 0.2%-1% eliminates most foam within 30 seconds, with foam suppression lasting more than 30 minutes.
- Compatibility: Good compatibility with anionic and nonionic systems; unlikely to cause surface defects.
- Environmentally safe: Free of silicone, mineral oil and APEO; compliant with EU environmental regulations.
- Stability: Stable over a wide pH range and at high temperature.
- Cost-effectiveness: Low use level and high value, helping reduce overall customer cost.
Recommended Application Fields
- Waterborne industrial coatings: Foam control during application of automotive coatings, furniture coatings, coil coatings, etc.
- Waterborne inks and varnishes: Foam removal in gravure and flexographic printing to help reduce pinholes and craters.
- Adhesives and sealants: Foam suppression during coating to help reduce white spots and pinholes after film formation.
- Paper coatings: Foam management in coated paper and packaging paper production.
- Textile processing: Defoaming in dyeing and finishing and sizing processes.
- Metalworking fluids: Foam suppression in cutting and grinding fluids.
- Water treatment: Foam control in industrial circulating water and wastewater treatment.
Usage and Recommended Dosage
Addition timing: Can be added at any stage of production; adding under stirring is recommended.
Usage: No dilution required; add directly and stir for 15-30 minutes until uniformly dispersed.
Recommended dosage:
- Waterborne industrial coatings: 0.2%-1% (of total formulation)
- Waterborne inks/varnishes: 0.2%-1%
- Other fields: 0.2%-1%
The specific dosage should be determined by dosage screening.
Safety and Storage
- Safety notes: Wear safety goggles and gloves during handling. In case of skin contact, rinse with water; in case of eye contact, flush immediately and seek medical attention.
- Storage: Store sealed in a cool, well-ventilated, dry place, away from high temperature and heat, sparks and open flames. Store at ambient temperature; low-temperature solidification may occur, but performance is unaffected after heating and melting.
- Packaging: 25 kg drums.
- Shelf life: 2 years from the date of manufacture under the specified storage conditions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can this product be used in high-gloss waterborne coating systems?
A: Yes. This product contains no silicone oil or hydrophobic particles, so it does not cause cratering or gloss unevenness, making it especially suitable for high-gloss systems.
Q: If the product solidifies at low temperature, does it affect performance?
A: No. The product may solidify at low temperature; simply heat to room temperature and stir well to restore performance.
Q: Is this product suitable for high-electrolyte systems?
A: Yes. It remains stable over a wide pH range and under high-electrolyte conditions, making it suitable for demanding process environments.
Q: Is pre-dilution required?
A: Pre-dilution is not recommended. Add directly to the system and stir thoroughly for the best effect.
