Toynol® Foamic-041 Silicone Defoamer

Toynol® Foamic 041 High-Efficiency Waterborne Molecular Defoamer

Abstract

Toynol® Foamic 041 is a high-efficiency nonionic surfactant defoamer developed to solve foam control problems in waterborne systems. Using a combined formulation of polydimethylsiloxane and polyoxyethylene sorbitan monooleate, it delivers three core functions: rapid foam knockdown, long-lasting foam suppression and excellent micro-foam removal. Compared with conventional defoamers, it contains special hydrophobic particles that effectively handle persistent foam, and it is APEO-free and environmentally compliant, making it especially suitable for waterborne industrial coatings, inks and adhesives with high surface-quality requirements.

Usage and Recommended Dosage

Dosage reference guide

Standard operating procedure

Pretreatment check

  • Check the product condition; if it has solidified or separated, first heat to 25-40 °C and stir well.
  • Confirm protective measures are in place (safety goggles, gloves, etc.).

Addition

  • Add directly to the system; no pre-dilution required.
  • Can be added at any stage of production; addition at the early batching stage is recommended.

Mixing process

  • Stir thoroughly for 15-30 minutes after addition.
  • If viscosity rises, heat appropriately to 30-40 °C to aid dispersion.

Quality verification

  • Take samples for foam performance testing.
  • Confirm that no surface defects occur.
Application Basis of calculation Recommended dosage range Notes
Waterborne industrial coatings Total formulation 0.2-1.0% Adjust per system foaming tendency
Waterborne inks and varnishes Total formulation 0.2-1.0% Start from a low dosage
Adhesives and sealants Total formulation 0.2-0.8% Subject to compatibility testing
Other waterborne systems Total formulation 0.2-1.0% Optimize via dosage screening

Safety and Storage

  • Wear safety goggles and chemical-resistant gloves during operation.
  • Keep the work area well ventilated.
  • In case of skin contact, rinse immediately with water for 15 minutes.
  • In case of eye contact, flush immediately with plenty of water and seek medical attention.
  • Storage management
  • Storage temperature: 5-40 °C in a cool, dry place.
  • Packaging: 10 kg drums.
  • Shelf life: 2 years (from the date of manufacture).
  • Special handling: Low-temperature solidification is normal; performance is unchanged after heating and melting.
  • Transport classification: Transport and store as Class C goods.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How effective is Foamic 041 at controlling foam in high-viscosity systems?

A: This product maintains good dispersibility and defoaming performance in high-viscosity waterborne systems. It is recommended to extend the mixing time to 30 minutes or more to ensure full dispersion. For particularly high-viscosity systems, the use temperature can be slightly raised to around 40 °C.

Q: Does this product remain stable at high temperature?

A: Yes. Toynol® Foamic 041 has good thermal stability and can withstand working temperatures below 80 °C. Its defoaming performance does not drop significantly at high temperature, but avoid prolonged storage above 40 °C.

Q: How do I determine whether the defoamer is fully compatible with my system?

A: We recommend a small-scale compatibility test: take 100 mL of the base system, add the recommended dosage of defoamer, mix thoroughly and observe for 24 hours. If there is no separation, flocculation or cratering, and defoaming is good, compatibility is satisfactory.

Q: Can this product be used together with other additives?

A: It can be used with most anionic and nonionic additives, but pay attention to the addition order: generally add the defoamer first and disperse it fully before adding other functional additives. When used with cationic additives, test compatibility in advance.

Q: If the product separates, how should it be handled?

A: This is a normal physical phenomenon. Simply leave the product at 30-40 °C for 24 hours, then stir thoroughly until homogeneous to restore its performance; the product’s effect is unaffected.
