Abstract
Toynol® FS-620 is a nonionic gemini surfactant based on an acetylenic diol polyether structure, designed to address poor wetting, cratering, poor leveling, and foam-control challenges in waterborne industrial coatings, printing inks, adhesives, and other systems. Its core function is to efficiently lower dynamic and static surface tension (surface tension of a 0.1% aqueous solution: static 33.2 dyn/cm, dynamic 34.3 dyn/cm), suppress foam formation, and eliminate microbubbles, combining wetting and foam control in a single product. Compared with conventional wetting agents, it is APEO-free, broadly compatible, and effective at low dosages (0.3%-1%), making it a suitable option for high-speed coating, printing, and demanding waterborne systems.

Usage and Recommended Dosage
Suggested addition sequence:
- Add after the other surfactants and polymers to ensure full dissolution or dispersion.
- Add before pigments, fillers, and other solid materials so it preferentially wets solid surfaces and suppresses foam during subsequent mixing.
- Use appropriate occupational protection (safety goggles and gloves).
- Check the product condition (if it solidifies or crystallizes at low temperature, warm it to room temperature or above its melting point and stir; it will return to its original state without affecting performance).
- Calculate the required dosage.
- Slowly add FS-620 to the system under moderate stirring.
- Continue stirring for 15-30 minutes to ensure uniform mixing.

- Waterborne industrial coatings: 0.3% – 0.5%
- Waterborne printing inks and overprint varnishes: 0.3% – 1.0%
- Other fields (e.g., adhesives): 0.3% – 1.0%

Safety and Storage
- Safety note: Wear safety goggles and gloves during handling. On skin contact, rinse with plenty of water and soap; if it gets into the eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention.
- Storage conditions: Store sealed in a cool, ventilated, dry place, away from heat, sparks and open flames, and other heat sources.

A: The optimal dosage depends on your specific formulation, equipment, and process conditions. A: FS-620 is compatible with most anionic and nonionic resins. In certain special formulations, however, we still recommend a small-scale compatibility test before use to check for abnormalities such as flocculation or phase separation, to be on the safe side.
Q: Can it fully replace conventional silicone defoamers?
A: In most waterborne systems, FS-620 can significantly reduce or even fully replace conventional defoamers. Its advantage is that it defoams without introducing a cratering risk while also providing wetting. For extremely stubborn foam, it can still be combined with a conventional defoamer, but the defoamer dosage can be substantially reduced.
