Vanconol® LFS-2501 Alkali-Resistant Low-Foam Surfactant
Vanconol® LFS-2501 Alkali-Resistant Low-Foam Surfactant
Abstract
Vanconol® LFS-2501 is a high-performance low-foam surfactant based on a combination of natural surfactants and acetylenic diol additives, developed to address poor dynamic wetting and foam control in highly alkaline, high-salt industrial environments. Its key benefits include tolerating very high alkali concentrations (≥300 g/L), significantly reducing dynamic surface tension (36.4 mN/m at 6 bubbles/s in a 0.3% aqueous solution), and providing multiple functions including low foam, emulsification, penetration, dispersion and detergency. Compared with conventional surfactants, it offers excellent salt tolerance, is readily biodegradable and is free of APEO, phosphorus and silicon, making it a suitable option for demanding industrial environments such as metal coating pretreatment and textile pretreatment.

Main Features and Advantages
- Strong alkali and salt tolerance: Maintains stable performance in alkali solutions ≥300 g/L, adapting to extreme industrial environments.
- Excellent dynamic wetting: Rapidly lowers dynamic surface tension, improving wetting efficiency in high-speed processes.
- Multiple integrated functions: Combines emulsification, penetration, dispersion and detergency, simplifying formulation design.
- Green and environmentally friendly: Readily biodegradable, phosphorus-free and silicon-free, meeting sustainable production requirements.
Recommended Application Fields
- Metal coating pretreatment: Spray cleaners, degreasers and high-pressure water rinse additives.
- Metalworking fluids: Cutting fluids and rust preventives, providing lubrication and cooling with low foam to avoid interference in high-speed machining.
- Textile pretreatment: Alkali-resistant penetrants and detergents for desizing and scouring.
- Industrial cleaners: Plastic cleaners and ultrasonic cleaners, rapidly penetrating oil and suppressing foam.
- Other industrial applications: Pesticide emulsifiers, papermaking additives and other demanding chemical environments.
Usage and Recommended Dosage
Addition sequence: Add after the main formulation components have been incorporated, and stir slowly until fully dissolved.
Recommended dosage: 3%-10% of the total cleaning formulation, and the specific level should be determined by dosage screening based on system alkali concentration and temperature.
Compatibility: Compatible with most anionic/nonionic additives; preliminary testing of formulation stability is recommended.
