Toynol® Superwet-607 Acetylenic Diol Nonionic Wetting Agent
Toynol® Superwet-607 High-Efficiency Acetylenic Diol Nonionic Wetting Agent
Abstract
Toynol® Superwet-607 is a nonionic acetylenic-diol gemini surfactant developed to address core issues in waterborne systems (such as coatings, printing inks, and adhesives), including difficult wetting of low-energy surfaces and cratering or non-uniform coating caused by insufficient dynamic wetting. Its main functions are to efficiently lower dynamic/static surface tension, promote flow and leveling, and remain stable over a wide pH range. Compared with conventional wetting agents, it offers excellent compatibility, low tendency to stabilize foam, and environmental safety (APEO-free), making it a suitable option for high-performance applications with demanding wetting requirements, such as waterborne industrial coatings, photovoltaic coolants, and high-speed printing inks.

Main Features and Advantages
- Efficient wetting: Its unique gemini structure rapidly and effectively lowers the dynamic and static surface tension of waterborne systems, markedly improving spreading and wetting on low-energy surfaces such as plastic and metal, and eliminating cratering.
- Excellent compatibility: Compatible with most waterborne resins and additives; unlikely to cause instability or foam-stabilization problems; suitable for complex formulations.
- Environmentally friendly and safe: The product is free of APEO and other hazardous substances and aligns with environmental regulatory trends.
- Promotes leveling: Helps the coating achieve a more uniform, level surface appearance and improves final product quality.
Recommended Application Fields
- Waterborne industrial coatings: Used in automotive, industrial equipment, and wood coatings; effectively resolves cratering, fisheyes, and poor leveling caused by inadequate wetting; especially suited to automated spray lines.
- Photovoltaic coolant: As a key wetting component, ensures rapid, uniform coverage of the coolant on photovoltaic panel surfaces, improving heat-transfer efficiency and compatibility.
- Waterborne printing inks and overprint varnishes: Suitable for high-speed printing processes such as publication and packaging printing; prevents non-uniform printing and improves print quality and speed.
- Adhesives: Improves coating uniformity on polymeric substrates, meets high-speed coating requirements, and avoids defects caused by poor wetting.
- Metalworking fluids: As a wetting agent, helps the fluid penetrate and spread rapidly, improving machining accuracy and lubrication.
- Leather finishing agents and ceramic glazes: Provides consistent initial wetting, ensuring uniformity of finishing or glazing.
Usage and Recommended Dosage
Addition timing: Add before charging pigments, fillers, and other solid materials to make full use of its wetting performance, or after the other surfactants and polymers to ensure full dissolution and dispersion.
Dilution: Can be pre-diluted with water as needed to aid uniform dispersion in the system.
Recommended dosage: Please refer to the table below; the specific dosage should be determined by a dose-response study according to actual site conditions.
| Application scenario | Recommended dosage (based on total formulation) | Remarks |
|---|---|---|
| Waterborne industrial coatings | 0.3% – 0.5% | Run a dose-response study |
| Photovoltaic coolant | 3% – 5% | Run a dose-response study |
| Waterborne printing inks and overprint varnishes | 0.3% – 0.5% | Run a dose-response study |
| Other fields | 0.3% – 1.0% | Run a dose-response study |
Safety and Storage
- Safety note: Wear appropriate protective equipment (such as safety goggles and gloves) during handling. On skin contact, wash thoroughly with soap and water; if it gets into the eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical attention.
- Storage conditions: Store sealed in a cool, ventilated, dry place, away from heat, sparks and open flames. Recommended storage temperature is room temperature. It may solidify or crystallize at low temperature; heating to its melting point with stirring restores it without affecting performance.
- Packaging: 25 kg drums, 200 kg drums, 1000 kg drums.
- Shelf life: 2 years from the date of manufacture under the specified storage conditions.
- Transport classification: (Compliant with GB/T 190-2009).
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How compatible is Toynol Superwet-607 with anionic systems?
A: As a nonionic surfactant, it is compatible with anionic, cationic, and nonionic systems. In complex formulations, however, we still recommend a small-scale compatibility test first.
Q: Is this wetting agent stable under high-temperature or high-pH conditions?
A: Yes. The product is chemically stable and maintains its wetting performance over a wide temperature and pH range, making it suitable for most demanding waterborne industrial environments.
Q: Can the product still be used if it solidifies or crystallizes?
A: Yes. This is caused by excessively low storage temperature. Simply move the product to a warm environment or warm it appropriately (usually to 25-40 °C) and stir thoroughly until it fully melts and mixes uniformly; its performance is unaffected.
Q: How do I determine the optimal dosage for a new formulation?
A: We strongly recommend a dose-response study. Start from the lower end of the recommended dosage and increase stepwise, evaluating its effect on surface tension, leveling, and compatibility. Our technical support team can provide free samples and testing guidance.
